Youth Violence
There are several different data sets that provide unique perspectives on youth violence, including death certificates, police arrest data for violent crime, and hospital discharge (inpatient and outpatient) data. Data sets that offer or could offer other insights into youth violence include the Youth Risk Behavior Survey, juvenile crime data, school bullying data, etc. Some of these data are protected and not available for research purposes. Each of these data sets has strengths and limitations but together provide a more comprehensive overview of youth violence than any single source. Below are data on youth violence which have been assembled as a Youth Violence Surveillance system for Nashville/Davidson County. This effort was undertaken in collaboration with the Metro Public Health Department with support from the CDC NUPACE project (grant #: )
